Five years ago, our Founders discovered a huge gap in the automation market: Affordable, lightweight robots that were easy for anyone to use, and Automata was born! Powered by our passion for accelerating automation and deploying transformative automation at scale, we’re building a world class company focused on disrupting the automation industry with Eva, the first low-cost, high-functioning robot aimed at lab automation.

Join our diverse, fun and committed team as we take on the challenge of shaking up the robotics industry over the next decade.

As a PM, you will join a growing Product Team responsible for shaping the direction of a truly disruptive product in robotics and automation. Our robots remove the current barriers to automation by reducing the initial capital outlay needed for automation, as well as enabling non-experts to program the robot through our easy and intuitive no-code platform, Choreograph. We’ve enabled hundreds of our customers, from labs to SME manufacturers, to get value from our robots, and we’d like you to help us in our journey to become a world leader in lab automation.

This job is an individual contributor role. You will need to be able to influence your teammates, as well as colleagues, stakeholders, and key executives, through your use of data and logic.

Why is this role important for Automata?

As a Product Manager in our core Product Engineering team, you’ll manage teams focussed on shaping how users program our robot and automation cells, as well as how we get data from such usage to generate insights for future iterations of our product. Your work will directly influence a core pillar of our product strategy.

In this role, you will be

  • Shaping the product strategy and owning the execution of said strategy for multiple cross-functional teams you’re managing.
  • Responsible for end to end process from product/ feature discovery to shipping the product/feature and ensuring the outcomes of the teams result in generating customer value and positive impact to overall business KPIs.
  • Making data driven decisions focussing on customer utilisation.
  • Communicating with stakeholders across the business, especially engineering, sales, marketing, customer success and support.
  • Aligning diverse viewpoints into an action plan, and prioritising features to create actionable roadmaps.
  • Making decisions with incomplete information, working autonomously and will be accountable for your decisions.
  • Contributing to Product best practices across industries to help develop Automata’s Product team.

What it takes

  • Experience
    • 4+ years of Product Management experience, with demonstrable success in owning the end-to-end of the product life cycle, with a strong inclination for product discovery and translating insights into products and measuring the impact of these on customers’ and business objectives.
    • Track record of successful product discovery by working closely with customers, understanding their pain-points and defining what needs to get built and why.
    • Working collaboratively with engineers and UX designers and delivery managers to deliver products that solve these customer pain points.
    • Demonstrated experience managing 2 or more teams/squads, which have the same overall mission and shared KPIs.
    • Demonstrated experience shipping products iteratively and at pace.
    • Experience with Agile methodology as well working on JIRA
  • Empathy: You have a customer-centric mindset, with a demonstrated ability to understand customer pain points and finding creative solutions to create moments of magic for our customer.
  • Curiosity: You are a constant learner and improve upon your existing skills and knowledge within Product and outside it, to help you become a more rounded colleague and person.
  • Comfort with the Grey: Ability to handle ambiguity and breaking down complex goals into actionable steps with measurable results
  • Communication: Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders at different levels and switching between high level strategy for company’s management and sweating the details for the immediate product teams you manage.

What gets us excited?

We’re passionate about the future of Technology and Robotics and our growing success is built upon like minded individuals who share our passion.

We are excited about creating moments of magic for our customers, moving the needle on what’s possible within robotics and automation, crisp PRDs, Asking 5 Whys, and thinking long-term while delivering incremental value at pace.

If this sounds like a good fit and you have experience with owning the product strategy and managing the product lifecycle for multiple teams, from discovery to delivery and measurement of impact.

Unfortunately we are not able to offer sponsorship for candidates outside the EU for this role.
