Job Purpose:

We’re working on the next automation revolution of life-sciences laboratories to free our users from the tyranny of manual, repetitive tasks. Enabling them to focus on the more creative aspects of their roles. To achieve it we are designing and building a bunch of new hardware and software products.

To help us on our mission, we’re looking for an electrical engineer to join our growing team which will be working on the acceleration of lab automation integrating our design and process within the electrical team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

As an automation company, we rely on a highly skilled engineering team to provide the best products and services to our customers, and electrical engineering is a key part of that. From electrical control panels to wiring harnesses, and even our line of robotic products, electrical engineering is a big part of what we do.

As an electrical engineer at Automata you will be working on a wide variety of technologies and products at the cutting edge of Automation. This is an opportunity to grow your knowledge, try out new ideas and make an impact.

In this role, you will be.. (the responsibilities)

• Responsible for the electrical architecture and cabling of the product development

• Subject matter expert in producing high quality electrical designs for our Automata labs product and machine integrations

• Ensuring configuration control is implemented and maintained for any electrical designs

• Specifying and selecting appropriate electrical components

• Program safety controllers to ensure safe operation of machines

• Aiding test engineers in the production of test plans related to electrical systems

Key Competencies:

• Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience

• Experience using electrical CAD packages (e.g. E-plan)

• Previous experience designing electrical schematics for machinery (e.g. control panel / electrical cabinet)

• Experience programming industrial automation equipment (PLC / safety controllers)

• Good working knowledge of the relevant electrical standards and regulations (e.g. 17th Edition, IEC 60204-1)

• Previous experience designing cable harnesses

• Experience with Agile delivery methods

• Effectively work with multidisciplinary teams
